Huawei P6 U06 Firmware
Last year the Huawei Ascend P6 was one of the most surprising smartphones we had the chance to review. For its price, the P6 was an absolute gem and at the time it came with the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, something not a lot of other manufacturers could claim. Times have moved on, however, and with the passing of the days so too has a new version of Google’s mobile OS arrived. After seeing news that several international markets had received the update to Android 4.4.2 for the Ascend P6 we contacted Huawei South Africa to enquire about when we would be seeing the local update and received the following reply: Unfortunately due to the P6 requiring a hardware update the device will not support the Android 4.4 upgrade. We do apologise.

The European version of the Android software has been released onto the internet, and it contains all of the files that you need to upgrade your Ascend P6 from Android 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 without rooting the phone. All you need is a 2GB or larger microSD card, the time to download 2.7GB of files to a computer and around 30 minutes to do the actual updating. –WARNING– Upgrading firmware is not a perfect science and there is a risk that it may fail.
If so, your phone may be irreparably damaged. In choosing to follow this guide you are assuming this risk for yourself and we shall not be held responsible should something occur that damages your phone. We have performed this update ourselves to confirm that it has worked. –WARNING– Check the build and model numbers of your Huawei Ascend P6 Head to Settings> About phone and check in the first line that the model number is ‘HUAWEI P6-U06’ then scroll down to find the ‘Build number’.
Most South African P6s (as far as we can tell) shipped with the build that ends in ‘B111’ or ‘B112’ which are the ones we will be using for this upgrade. If your phone is not the P6-U06 model and isn’t using the local firmware versions then we cannot guarantee that the update will work properly. Download the following files. For the update we will be going from build B112 to B125 (Android 4.2.2) to B132 (Android 4.2.2) to B510 (Android 4.4.2). To avoid any problems you must do the same three in the same order, or the B510 update will not work and you risk potentially bricking your phone. The files are linked below: • • • Get your microUSB card ready and update For each of the first two updates start at number 1 but for the final B510 update start at number 2: • For the B125 and B132 updates • Open the.zip file for the Transfer the ‘dload’ folder onto the sdCard. • Make sure the UPDATE.APP file is inside the folder.
